I began my career as a nature enthusiast, inspired by a family background that valued the natural world. With a growing passion for wildlife, I completed my schooling from Grade 1 to 11 at Kandy Model School and my G.C.E. (Advanced Level) studies at St. Anthony's College, Kandy. In 2017 I entered the Faculty of Science at the University of Peradeniya, where I earned a B.Sc. with First Class (Honours) in Zoology. After graduation, I worked as a Temporary Demonstrator in the Department of Zoology, Faculty of Science, University of Peradeniya. In 2023 I was appointed as a Lecturer (Probationary) in the same Department, a position I currently hold. My research interests include scorpions, ichthyology, herpetology, and evolutionary ecology. I study the evolutionary history and conservation of Sri Lanka's unique scorpions, amphibians, reptiles, and freshwater fishes of Sri Lanka through an integrative approach that combines field ecology, molecular phylogenetics, and morphology. Being an avid field biologist and macro photographer, I have conducted extensive surveys across Sri Lanka's rainforests and highlands, documenting biodiversity and promoting conservation awareness among schoolchildren, university undergraduates, and budding zoologists.
